Dear Mark & Julie:

When we read the letters you had received from houses you had already built, we must admit we thought they were too good to be true.  But it is so amazing that we also can’t say enough about the professional way you guided us through ordering our log home, the building of our home, and all the care and special extra touches you added along the way.

Mark and his crew were reliable and excellent in their work ethic and habits.  In our barn, we have a lot of tools and other items and we felt very comfortable allowing access to the guys and not having to worry that anything would come up missing.  And, of course, we did not have any problems.  I am sure every community has its challenges with inspectors, but our City of Vandalia Inspector, Chris Mastrino, can’t say enough about the quality workmanship he observed during the building of our home.

We never imagined all the attention building a log home brings.  Of course we are not biased, but we have been told by several people we should showcase our home in a log magazine because they believe it is the most beautiful log home they have ever seen.  While we are not interested in doing this, we would be more than happy at anytime to allow you access because we feel that if it were not for Gulley Log Homes and Mark and Julie Gulley, we wouldn’t have the dream house we have.

     We were discussing the house last night and commenting on a list that we need to create, of things that we need to finish up (staining, landscaping, ect.) to get to a point where we feel like the new home is complete (although we realize that there will always be something to do).

     We took a walk down the driveway and then down the road, and on our way back we were looking at the house from a distance and admiring how nice it looked, especially in the location it sits.  Then we walked back and settled in for the night.  I’m not sure why this particular night we dwelled so much on the house, but we discussed it quite extensively.  We talked about how infrequently we look at the thermostat, how we never feel drafts, how detailed everything is, and how we are going to change light bulbs in the great room.

     Finally, our discussion turned to you two.  We talked about how you worked so hard with us to make our dream come true.  About how busy Mark always is, because it seems like he can never tell anyone no.  We talked about all of his subs and how good and on time they were (with the exception of the roofers) and we talked about just what good, down to earth, folks you are and how you truly care about others.  Then we realized that we never have written you a final letter to thank you for all you have done for us.  That is the purpose of this letter.  To tell you thanks for everything, and that we would sing your praises in a minute.  If you ever need a reference, or want to use this letter as a reference, please feel free to do so.

It has been almost one year since we moved into our new log home.  A dream we had for a very long time, and we have you to thank in helping that dream come true.

Although building a new home can have some trying times, long hours and a lot of decisions to make, it was truly worth all the hard work and knowing you were there giving 100% made it even easier to get through.
